Well known for its 1982 Falklands War, and an oversees territory of Britain, the remote Falkand Islands are a South Atlantic archipelago that few travelers make it to and are teeming with natural beauty and an abundance of wildlife scattered throughout its rugged islands over an area of 4,700 square miles. With a unique population of nearly 3,000 people that are mostly native-born Falkland Islanders of primarily British descent, the islands certainly have a charm all their own and an exploration of the Falklands are sure to present a lasting memory from the intrepid travelers that venture here. From the penguin filled islands of Carcass, Pebble and Saunders Islands, to the sea lion colonies of Sea Lion Island, and the colorful capital of Stanley.
